I arrived at Nova’s place about thirty minutes later and saw Landon’s car parked in the driveway. Greedy heffa, I thought.

I was automatically hit with the aroma of baked lamb chops with a cranberry drizzle, pan-seared rice, asparagus, and cheddar bay biscuits. My stomach instantly started to do backflips, alerting me that I hadn’t eaten all day.

“Hey, y’all. She’s here!” I alerted everyone.

“Who?” Landon asked while looking past me.

“Me, she, her,” I said while impersonating Tamar Braxton.

“Well, she, he was supposed to have been here an hour ago,” Nova said while passing me a glass of red Stella Rosa wine.

“Girl, Bliss isn’t even here, so I’m right on time,” I said while plopping down onto the loveseat.

“Where yo’ scrub at?” Landon asked.

“What?” I asked, confused.

“Yo’… scrub…” she said slowly. “You know, S-C-O-O-T-E-R,” she said while spelling his name out even slower.

“Girl, I don’t have time for your foolishness today,” I said while laughing. “His scrub self is at home though. Can you believe he begged me to come? Talking ‘bout ‘I know the girls wouldn’t mind.’”

“He is truly pathetic,” Landon hissed.

“No he is not, Landon. He loves that girl and isn’t afraid to show it. You need to treat him right, Demi. All niggas have flaws.”

“I get that, but I need a man that is man enough to be my man, and Scooter is just not doing it for me right now.”

“Girl, fuck that! Toss his ass like a salad. Glow is on the come up, and we don’t need anyone holding us back.”

“Well, when are you going to get a man?”

We all turned around to see Bliss standing in the doorway.

“When you get some edges,” Landon replied back and took another sip of her wine.

“Bitch, don’t come for my edges. Everybody can’t have that curly shit like you.” Bliss laughed.

“Well, since you decided to show up, I guess we can start eating,” Nova said while setting the table.

“Yo, what is up with y’all two bitches?” Bliss asked while pointing at Nova and Landon. “Y’all always got a stick up y’all asses. We gotta find y’all some good loving ASAP ‘cause dis is tew much.”

“And let the church say ‘Amen,’” I chimed in.

“Well, I did meet this dude today before I came over here, but I don’t know if it will be more than just a fuck mission,” Landon said.

“Girl, I hope you talking about fucking up some commas,” Bliss replied with a bewildered look.

“Right,” Demi and Nova said in unison.

“Y’all, stop worrying about my pussy, and let’s eat,” she said, getting defensive.

“Yeah, y’all, let’s eat so we can discuss more about G.L.O.W Gang after.”

G.L.O.W Gang was the name of our boutique we had been talking about trying to open for months. G.L.O.W stood for Glam Life of Winners and was created with the vision of four little black girls who had been through some things in life, but they persevered and made it through. Bliss and I had been juggling ideas around for a boutique, and then we brought it to the girls.
